When Advertising Gets Shady.

I came across a Craigslist job post the other day that I KNEW was a scam, but there were just enough lines to keep me believing it was real.  For instance it said “We are looking for people who can follow direction”.  I emailed the person with my resume and I got a reply saying to verify this is really me please visit some site and enter my correct email, then send my resume to some other address.

It turns out this company is responsible for some of those ads you see where you must complete all the free trials for your $100 Red  Lobster gift card and the like.  Me being curious enough entered in my “fake” email address to check it out.  Of course I didn’t actually sign up for any trials.  I just closed Firefox and leaned back and kind of laughed.  Thats a pretty slick way to get email addresses.  My dad told me once that “being a sly business person doesn’t mean the same thing as it used too.”  Miss you dad.
