The Most Hated Font
The Comic Sans debate has been going on for about 10 years. Love it or hate it, Comic Sans exists. Since being out of school I really haven’t thought of it much. I remember when I was there my typography teacher said the main reason people hate it is because people think it’s “cool” and it gets used everywhere. I never thought twice about it. I just said “hmm, ok” and moved on. If you are untrained in type and you come across your basic font in Word, yes it does stand out so I understand why it gets picked. I came across this site
www.bancomicsans.com. I suppose it’s kind of funny, but I think what gets on my nerves about this is the art snob feeling of it all. I’m not one of those by any means. I have no problem saying I hate all art snobs. Get over yourself. Some of the art on that site makes comic sans work and I know the theme of the whole thing is to hate on the font, but in a strange way it kind of gives the thing some light.
Chris Nifong is a designer/creative entity in his own world. There is too much on his mind right now to be talking about achievements and accolades. For the past few weeks he hasn’t really said much about himself. Perhaps he is a mystery, perhaps he has no idea what he is rambling on about right now. That’s probably it.

I suppose there are many fonts that, for one reason or another, people may want to campaign and ban it. I for one despise Hobo, and have a warm place in my heart for Copperplate. To each his/her own, as long as the font serves the right purpose.
